French Painter, Louis Icart created paintings and drawings that showed glamourous women and design in the 1920s during the Art Deco period. His painting style was loose but also very detailed with his use of different color schemes as well as black and white designs. He also created geometric details from the outfits to the background. Within some of his images, they give an art Nouveau-type flair because of the often use of females (some presented nude) and the organic/line shapes Icart produced. A couple differences from past painters/drawers were that Icart's creations were almost too good to be true and fantasy-esque in the women he portrays since he was influenced by the French Rococo style. He focused mainly on designing women and their lives in the 1920s and 1930s but also created in a more vintage way because, though using various colors, they don't appear very bright or futuristic. I think these designs are important because they showed the past differently and also it's interesting how different painters of the Art Deco style again pull from past design and painting styles to create similar representations of life after WW1 and the luxury that certain individuals gained.

  1. You hit an important point with the artists and designers showing high end goods now available and being advertised to the wealthy.
