Example 17: The Magnate (Modern Typeface)

Tugcu Design Co. The Magnate Font. 2019. Typography. Fontspring, https://www.fontspring.com/fonts/tugcu-design-co/the-magnate

A newer typeface, The Magnate, originated in 2019 from Tugcu Design Co. and was inspired by the Art Deco Style. The overall layout is a display type with only uppercase letters available along with numbers and other characters as shown in the 3rd image. The design is extremely geometric with the shape of each letter being formed by straight, flat, and skinny lines. The simplicity makes it elegant and has been used in branding for hotels, signs, restaurant menus, book covers, and other marketing projects. The style mimics the type, Bifur by A.M. Cassandre who used lines to create a more geometric shape for the font he created. This is different compared to the other fonts as it was a more recent representation of an Art Deco type and it uses just flat and even lines to create the geometric shapes. Compared to Bifur, there are fewer lines and more negative space to breathe within the font. It even has a gold option like shown above to bring a more classic and retro feel to the font and when creating art deco packaging, designs, etc. I think this is an important example because though the work mimics a past type, it shows how versatile Art Deco fonts can be messed with and also simplified to add a certain retro and elegant feel to a design of almost any kind.
