Example 3: Vogue, Early November 1926

Bolin, Guillermo. Vogue, Early November 1926Magazine Cover. Vogue. Conde Nast Store, https://condenaststore.com/featured/a-vintage-vogue-magazine-cover-of-a-couple-william-bolin.html

This 1926 Vogue magazine cover is relevant to the Art Deco Era with its human illustrations that show wealth and prosperity within the fashion world shown in the individual's extravagant outfits. The cover's use of flat geometric shapes and crisp lines creates movement across the background which is also part of the Art Deco style. Along with this striking image, the typography is simple and flat, but the way the type's overall geometric shape is presented is another aspect of Art Deco design. The previous examples on my blog were posters about traveling and locations, but this is a magazine cover that was depicting the luxury style of fashion created in the 1920s. This was popular, especially within Paris and across Europe which bled into the United States, specifically in higher-class places like New York City. This example is important to me because the design represents fashion which was another fast pace, changing part of the time the Art Deco Style was most popular. Seeing this type of design emerging in magazines that people regularly flipped through must have inspired or at least given awareness to large audiences to look to the future and even manifest a more luxurious lifestyle.
